Namaste!

On behalf of our students, teachers and practitioners, I want to welcome you to Patanjali's Place - A Community Yoga Space.

In August of 2008 with the help of a small group of practitioners self-described as the "OM Team," we opened our doors at 700 Foster Street in Durham Central Park. Since our "Inaugural Class" where we welcomed over fifty practitioners to our space, we have been offering yoga most every morning, afternoon and evening seven days a week. From Prenatal to Baby & Me Yoga, Kids and Teens Yoga, AM & PM Stretch & Strengthen, Yoga Lunch, YogaBasics, Stretch and Restore, Hatha I/II, Yin and Yang Yoga, Pilates and Yogalates, we have attempted to design a schedule that will serve as great a cross-section of the community as possible. I hope that one or more such classes will help benefit you.

I can truly say that the experience of opening Patanjali's Place has been both incredibly meaningful and unbelievably memorable. As I mentioned in my teacher profile, yoga has been a supportive presence in my life for over twenty years. During that time, there have been many ups and downs - opportunities for happiness and sadness, success and failure. All the while, yoga has been a place to turn, to recover and to restore. For this reason, I feel so blessed to participate in the growth of our community where students practice and teachers instruct. To all, I feel thankful. So much so, throughout the year, we will reach beyond our mats and space to help others through the support of a variety of community organizations. Whether it be coats, hats and gloves in Winter, food for the community pantry or backpacks for returning students in the Fall, we want to extend our gratitude in service to others. To this end, we may realize a more universal connection to All.

As for you, my prayer is that if you have not joined us yet, that you will very soon. And when you do, you will feel welcomed, honored and appreciated. Hope to see you soon!
